Domestic WARMF Applications

WARMF has been applied by Systech engineers for watersheds across the continental United States and abroad. The focus of these studies has varied from management objectives, such as water quality forecasting and total maximum daily load (TMDL) calculations, to more research-oriented applications such as modeling the fate and transport of mercury and selenium in a watershed and the impact of onsite wastewater systems on a watershed scale. To date, Mica Creek (ID) is the smallest watershed where WARMF was applied (28 square kilometers, 10.8 square miles) and the San Juan River Basin (CO, NM, UT, AZ) is the largest (42,000 square kilometers, 16,000 square miles).  There is no limit on the size or scale of a potential WARMF application as long as adequate topography and other input data are available.

Recent applications include:

  • San Joaquin River Real-time Salinity Forecasting to Meet Water Quality Objectives
  • Future Scenarios of Mercury, Selenium and Arsenic Transport and Bioaccumulation in the San Juan River Basin
  • Lower Catawba Basin Nutrient TMDL Simulation
